The automation raise in today's "electrified" jets can be the two a boon and a bane. In a newly come speech Robert Baker, vice chairman of American Airlines [AMR], had this to say: "We have build the electric airplane to be an extremely demanding challenge plane to our experienced pilots." As a consecution he suggested, training might have to be increased, although automation occasionally has been "sold" forward the prospect of reducing the training carrying capacity on airlines. Apparently the price of complexity is not to be denied.
